Happy Anniversary to a True Hero!

28 years ago this coming week my eldest son, Michael, reported for duty in the U.S. Army at Ft. Dix, NJ. Neither he, nor I, had any idea where that first step would lead..from a lowly Private who thought he was enlisting for a short tour, to the top of the promotion chain.. a Command Sergent Major who oversees over 3,000 soldiers and personnel from other branches of the service who come to be trained at the Army's Intelligence School at Ft. Huachuca, AZ.

I won't even attempt to try listing all of his accomplishments. He's a very humble person and has always left the bragging to his mother. He thoroughly enjoys his job. He absolutely delights in mentoring young soldiers. I've never heard him complain about a job assignment. And he believes in setting a good example as evidenced by the quote that has been his email signature for years:

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit..." Aristotle

We couldn't be prouder of him and we know that our country couldn't ask to be protected by anyone more dedicated.

And for the record, he has no plans to retire any time soon!
