I've been SLOWLY working on my hexie English paper piecing project. I'm almost ready to add one more large diamond section to this.
I gave in and did something I thought I'd never do. I sent two of my biggest pieced tops out to be long arm quilted. Between my breathing problems and a really bad shoulder I just didn't see myself getting these done myself on a domestic sit down machine.
So while I still find it hard to shake the feeling I've somehow "cheated" in calling these "my quilts", they are finally out of the UFO stack (and I have the unquilted tops down to THREE..WOW!).
It's hard to get a good picture when quilts are this big and these were taken before either were bound. Perhaps I'll get a chance to hang them and take better pictures later.
This stack 'n whack was made in 2009 after a workshop by a fellow quild member. I told you earlier that it was outside my comfort zone colorwise, but Tom loves it so I told him it is his 25th anniversary present. We are calling it "The Big Bang".
This is the Threadhead Quiltalong that I made last year.
I did manage to quilt the sofa sized top for my mother-in-law. We'll give it to her on her 90th birthday next Saturday in Colorado.
I love the Vera Bradly fabric I found in my stash for the border and backing.

I am trying to get caught up on my quilting too. I don't want the stack to get much bigger or I will never get caught up. I really like the quilt you show set on point! lovely.

Glad to see your blog updated. Sounds like your summer is not going so well, sincerely hope that you are feeling better. Too hot and dry here in Missouri to get excited about anything - I have even lost one of my 2 Magnolia trees.

I can't believe it's so long since I went through my blogger blogs. Sigh. It's so good to see a post from you and I hope all is well with you and Tom and that the summer has not been to difficult for you.
I love all your quilts and they are yours even though you had to have help finishing them. It feels so great to have fever tops unquilted.
I had awfully many quilts thread basted and ready for quilting at the beginning of the year and decided enough is enough. I need to blog about my achievements as I have only one left now, but it's a huge one. I'm determined to have it done and bound by the end of September.
I sort of promised a member of my guild at the retreat in May that I would bring my two big quilts done, DONE to the retreat in October. I'm very proud of the one I finished earlier this month. But boy, took it long to get to the finishing line. It was started in 2004 and I finally have a quilt for my own bed. It's hand sewn hexagon flowers appliqued to white backgrounds.
