It's Going to Be Another Great Quilt Show!

Yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours scribing and assisting with the judging for our guild's show.  Today Tom and I helped with the hanging of quilts.  Not sure how much help I was, but we were there.

It takes a lot of people, a lot of coordination and a lot of hard work to set up the show each year.

The poles set in place in the main room and quilts being placed where they will ultimately hang.

Most of the wallhangings in place on the back walls.

My Exploding Star received a 2nd place ribbon in the Small Wall Quilt category.

And one of my silk flower and tulle creations got a 2nd place ribbon in the Art Quilt category.

This AMAZING sampler mini was made by a man and is NOT PAPER PIECED.

To give you a better idea of the size and scale.  It certainly deserved the blue ribbon in the Miniatures category!

My friend, Cindy, made this sweet miniature basket quilt and was rewarded for her outstanding work.

She also made this amazing appliqued wallhanging and received first place in the Small Wall Quilt category. Her work is just phenomenal!

The little Trip Around The World miniature was made by the same man who entered the sampler above.  Another one composed of teeny, tiny pieces.

Progress in the back room where most of the largest quilts are hung.

Almost ready to raise the poles and quilts.

One of our younger quilters made this hilarious Hooters T-shirt quilt for her dad.
Check out the "trapunto" in the center of the quilt

We enlisted the help of some Pitt State basketball players and their coaches to raise the quilts.  Quess which quilt they really liked? That's Brandee, the quitmaker with them.

I think I know which quilt will be Viewer's Choice this weekend!

Remember that quilt I was working on last week?  Well lookee here.  1st place Pieced and Machine Quilted Domestic Machine (1 person)

I was lucky enough to get 3 more ribbons.  Details tomorrow.

Congratulations, Mary ! I love your quilts and love that miniature too! What a skilled man!
I was amazed by the system you have for hanging and raising the quilts! OMG, I live here in the Middle Age! But of course, we don't have even quilts!

Congrats, Mary. I'm glad your latest won and all the others too. I enjoyed the little quilt show. Great system for hanging and raising the quilts. We have something similar and it makes it alot easier. I'm looking forward to seeing more of those lovely quilts. Have fun at the show.

Aw, that was really sweet, Mary. You are always so proud of what the rest of us are doing. Brandee's quilt is too funny. She looks so pleased. Can't wait to see the result of all that hard work tomorrow.

I love your tour. I had never thought about how the quilts get hung, this makes sense. I bet you are tired. It can be overwhelming just being around so many beautiful pieces of work.- thanks for sharing.- cw
