It seems like forever since I've posted anything. I'm feeling a little stronger each day, but it sure is an uphill battle. I can't believe how hard the H1N1 hit me. It not only robbed me of physical strength, but it seems to have taken my emotional and mental strength as well. I'm having a difficult time finding enthusiasm for much of anything.
So....we went to Iowa for my family reunion. I've never heard the final count, but I believe we had over 150 people attend. This picture of my mom, sister, cousin and I was taken shortly before we left for the day. About 4 hours later I was riding in an ambulance!
After returning home to Kansas on the 3rd of November, I've spent most of my time in bed or in the recliner.
Last week I did find enough energy to quilt this cute little baby quilt for my friend, Cindy. She had given it to me for quilting just before we left for Iowa and she was hoping to have it to give as a baby shower gift this week. So I didn't want to disappoint her, even though I knew she'd understand.
It was small, so I was able to finish it in a few hours. It's really cute...would love to own it! Cindy does a marvelous job of piecing and applique.
When I left for Iowa I only had about five more blocks to hand quilt on my Dutch Treat to reach the halfway point. I not only fully expected to finish those during our trip, but I added two more rows so I'd have plenty to keep me busy.
We all know how those plans turned out.......................
I've done some hand quilting in short bursts in the last week and today I finished those five blocks. I can now say my Dutch Treat is half quilted! Of course that doesn't count the border, what ever that turns out to be.
I've received a couple of really cute siggies in the last couple weeks as well
This from Nicola in Germany

Mary having the flu when you have underlying health conditions can sure take you out of the game for awhile. Just give yourself time to get your strength back. Don't push yourself! I think when we get sick it does affect our mental health as well as we don't want to admit to ourselves that we are not as strong as we want to think we are.
The quilts look terrific!
I managed to get my h1n1 shot before I got sick thank goodness and my grandchildren got their shots last week - with their history of asthma and my compromised immune system due to lupus/polymyosistis I was worried.
Get well soon!

Mary for someone who has been ill, you are still getting alot accomplished... I am sure if you were well you would have all that done by now but oh well...keep taking it easy and get well soon.
I am glad you are feeling better now. If you managed to even quilt, this is a good sign !
Your enthusiasm will be back soon, I am sure.
The quilts look wonderful !
Good to hear from you Mary. I have been wondering how you were. I am glad you were able to get back to some quilting. Maybe only the "have tos" for awhile longer but anyone that knows you knows you will not give up for long! Take care.
Mary, I'm so glad you are starting to mend. I've been thinking of you often but didn't want to bother you while you were healing. Your DT quilt is so beautiful!!! I love the baby quilt your friend made.
Crispy
She wasn't well enough to quilt my quilt, and I told her over and over that she had all the time in the world. The baby isn't even born yet.
Mary, I washed and dried it and it so soft and cuddly, I don't want to give it away!
I could go to WalMart and get some diapers and an outfit for the baby shower...
That Dutch Treat is really something special.
Glad to hear you are up and about and able to blog. Am so sorry it hit you so hard. Rest and take it easy for a bit more.
Glad that you are feeling better! Your baby quilt is wonderful!
I love receiving siggies too!

I have not read any blogs since late August so it was a shock to read about your illness. I'm glad you are on the mend and I trust your strength in all ways will return gradually.
Your Dutch Treat is already awesome (it's a good word) and I'm not surprised your friend is not willing to part with the quilt she made, it's so beautiful.
And congratulation on your quilts winnings at the Little Balkan's Quilt Show. I think it was well deserved.
