Yesterday was so enjoyable. Hazel and Phyllis are always good company and it's fun to tackle the Dear Jane blocks together. I didn't actually get any sewing done myself..spent all my time talking and trying to help since I'd already made some of the blocks they wanted to make.
Last night I made this Dutch Treat block...it's called Edelweiss.
After yesterday I was inspired to get back to Dear Jane. This week's block for the list is a doozy. L-10 Nan's Naiad. I did some redrafting to eliminate some unnecesary seams and created a couple lines to make paper pieced part of it easier. Still has 45 pieces and I'm glad it's done...not perfect, but done.
Then I decided to try the one that has been really scaring me..G-6 Papa's Star. That little sawtooth star in the center finishes 1". I rotary cut and pieced it with the machine and it looked pretty good. But after I'd added the strips around it, the unit was a tad too big. So I took it apart and resewed. This time it didn't come out looking as good. I paper pieced the outer star points and then trimmed it at the wrong orientation. Now it was a tad short in a couple corners. So I used Jane's method and put a small frame around it. This one is far from perfect and I should be ashamed to post it..but it is what it is and I guess I have no pride. Maybe one day I'll try it again and see if I can do a better job.

I redraft some of the Jane blocks to suit me as well Mary. I think we all have to make it the easiest for us to make! I have been working on Dear Jane again as well as a few other things, but have not gotten back to Dutch Treat - that will continue to sit while I think about it.

Hi Mary, Stopping by to say hello. I see you're making a Jane Stickle quilt or Dear Jane. I started it last year and made a few blocks but I haven't made much progress and am having second thoughts. It's such a huge project.
